yeah up to a certain stage, a simple camera can get really amazing shots... its all in the person behind the camera...

unless of course you want to do some hardarse macro or something that specialized :P

Great photo, I love the textures in it :)

If you don't mind my suggesting, a wider DOF may have been good to use in the shot to pick up some more detail.
